“2d Cavalry Regiment is conducting a historic movement across Europe to Estonia. Part tactical exercise and part civic engagement, their#DragoonRide strengthens relationships and builds capability with our NATO Allies in a complex world.
Next week the Red Devils of 1-504 PIR will spearhead an operation by the 82nd Airborne Division from Fort Bragg to pass 2d Cavalry Regiment through Torun, Poland – Operation Anakonda.
Dozens of aircraft will take-off from four airfields across two continents, aerial refuel, organize in-flight into four sky trains, and conduct simultaneous airborne assaults across two drops zones separated by 100 miles with elements from 4 countries. This operation integrates the 82nd Airborne Division, 173rd Airborne Brigade, Polish 6th Airborne Brigade, Portuguese recon elements, and the United Kingdom’s 16th Air Assault Brigade.
The complexity of the operation is daunting. The ground scheme of maneuver is aggressive. The synchronization required is highly refined. Together with our NATO Allies we will demonstrate what is possible.
The Paratroopers of 1-504 PIR are proud to be core assault element for the 82nd Airborne Division in this history exercise.
Following Poland, we will travel to Germany, where the complexity increased, the training builds, and together with our NATO Allies we take it to the next level.”
